What is "Project 500"?

"Project 500" is an initiative by Warmaster OJB on Tabletopwelt.de, a German wargaming forum. The goal is to paint a 1500 points army in three rounds of 500 points each over a period of roughly five months. Each round lasts one and a half months and the result of each round should be a legal army list.

The project has already run five times, and I decided to give it a go in the 6th season with my Tau. Deadlines are:

1. Round (500 points): May 15th - June 30th 2006

2. Round (1000 points): July 1st - August 14th 2006

3. Round (1500 points): August 15th - September 30th 2006

Since I already have a solid basis of Tau models for my army I wanted to use the project to expand my army. The list would therefore look odd at points and include some models that would not be usable without additional cast (especially seeker missiles who will be guided by an already painted unit of pathfinders). The biggest challenge would be to get all the painting done on top of work and exams, so I decided to start a month early...
