Thingaz-a-Galazak Zorn-al

Background of my dwarf stronghold

Clan Thingaz-a-Galazak Zorn - the clan of the golden (or glittering) forest highlands - is a very old clan, and traditionalist at that. No one knows exactly how old this clan is, but rumours are that its beginnings date back to the first days of the dwarfs. Although the clan probably knows and their dammaz kron should contain information on this, the clan is strangely secretive about this issue, as the clan as a whole seems to be very secretive - even for dwarf standards.

The homelands of Thingaz-a-Galazak Zorn-al are situated in the northern parts of the Worlds Edge Mountains. The highlands the clan calls their homeland are covered with vast fir- and pine-forests. Rumours about the clan cultivating these forests can be dismissed for obvious reasons. Other tales are equally strange, but persist throughout the known world. They tell about these woods being called the glittering forests because of the riches the trees carry. Gold, silver and even diamonds are said to be growing on these trees. Hordes of adventurers have left their home to raid these highlands because of such tales, only never to be seen again. Who ever enters these forests unasked seems to face the full wrath of the clan and hardly anyone is known to have survived this. They were either crushed by the might of the clan's warriors or hunted down by the clan's rangers.

The clan is currently led by Lord Niklas Kristmasson. Even though he is still young for a dwarf, he sticks to the traditions of the hold. The clan doesn't call any of the more recent inventions of the engineers' guild their own. And even though the clan is known to have thought alongside other using war machines such as the flame canon or the gyrocopter, they refuse even to use gunpowder, not even handguns or canons. Another clan tradition Niklas Kristmasson follows is that of strict isolation. Only on very rare occasions is the clan known to have left his homelands. Oddly enough the help of the clan never seems to be asked for and they just seem to know when their brothers are in need of help. Most dwarfs see it as a special sigh of luck when the standards of clan Thingaz-a-Galazak Zorn appear on the battlefield. Words speaking of cowardice being the source of this policy of isolation are quickly silenced by tales of the martial prowess of the clan and the many threats the clan has to face due to the fact that it is one of the closest holds to the north and the chaos wastes.

The clans' colours are red and a dark green, and their armours and weapons are exceptionally shiny due to the extensive use of silver and gold. Of course the latter strengthens the rumours about the wealth of the clan.
